Regrind by True Grind

Your map.
Your server.
Your next rep.

A local CS2 practice server, managed from your desktop. Regrind is an open-source Windows app that makes solo practice easier to start and return to.

From setup to practice

The work up front. The reps after.

One click means starting a session after setup. The initial install includes prerequisites and a large server download.

  1. 01

    Set up once

Install Regrind and follow guided setup. Choose a folder for the separate CS2 server download, check prerequisites, and let setup finish.

  2. 02

    Pick your map

Choose an official map or import an individual CS2 Workshop map by URL or item ID. Workshop content needs its own download.

  3. 03

    Start. Join. Practice.

Start practice, wait for the server to be ready, then join through Steam. Later sessions reuse your saved map and settings.

Before you install

Make room for practice.

Regrind runs alongside your game. Its server files, settings, and logs stay on your computer.

A Windows x64 PC
Version 0.1.1 was tested on Windows 11 x64. Your PC must run CS2 and a dedicated server at the same time. The installer handles the required Microsoft Edge WebView2 runtime; installation on a machine without WebView2 and Windows 10 compatibility remain untested.
Steam and Counter-Strike 2
Install CS2 through Steam for playing. Regrind manages a separate server installation; it does not replace the game or your Steam account.
Room for a second installation
Fresh setup requires at least 90 GB of free space. Allow roughly 74 GB for the current server files, additional to your playable CS2 installation, plus room for downloads, updates, and Workshop maps. File sizes can change.
Internet for setup and downloads
Server installation, updates, and new Workshop maps require internet access. Offline play is not guaranteed; Steam and CS2 may need a connection.

A focused first release

Know what’s included.

Can friends join my server?

The first release is for solo practice on the same PC. LAN and internet sessions are outside this release. Regrind uses an automatic session password. CS2 may still listen on network interfaces; solo use does not mean network isolation. Regrind does not open firewall ports or configure your router.

Which practice controls are included?

Round settings, ammunition, grenade practice, and bot management. Version 0.1.1 was tested with actual player joins on Dust II and cached Aim Botz. Dust II movement, unlimited ammunition, grenade trajectory and rethrow, and round restart were confirmed in-game, as were movement, shooting bots, and the map-provided training controls in Aim Botz. Workshop maps initially keep their own settings. Read the 0.1.1 validation notes for observed results and limitations.

What if Join opens the CS2 main menu?

Wait for CS2 to finish opening, then press Join again. In the tested flow with CS2 initially closed and Steam already running, a second localhost Join connected the player.

Which checks are still pending?

Windows 10, installation without WebView2, offline play, multiplayer, and reproduction on another PC remain untested. The 0.1.1 run reused cached Aim Botz; a fresh Workshop download was not tested. Controlled low-space, full-volume, unreadable-volume, and fresh-account install/uninstall checks are also pending.

Does every Workshop map include drills?

No. Workshop maps provide their own content and behavior. Importing a map does not add custom drills. Advanced training modes, saved lineups, and progress tracking are future work.

Do I need a True Grind subscription?

No. Regrind is a separate desktop application. Local practice does not require a True Grind account, subscription, or hosted service. Steam and a playable CS2 installation are still required.
